Live SA:MP map in the browser

A San Andreas map in the browser showing player positions in real time – a Lua script, a server and a web client working together.

The live SA:MP map is a 2022 project: open a page in your browser and see where players are on the San Andreas map right now. I published it on BLAST.HK on September 13, 2022. I built it together with ca4tuk and Conradk10. My part was code, the build and turnkey installation on hosting.

How it works

  1. A Lua script for MoonLoader sends the player's coordinates from the game to the server.
  2. The server receives and stores the current positions. It comes in three versions, PHP, Node.js and Python FastAPI, so it can run on any hosting.
  3. A web client in HTML and JavaScript shows the map and updates the markers.

What it's for

The map makes it easy to track where your group or faction is and to coordinate play together.

If you didn't want to set up a server yourself, I could install a private map for you, turnkey – for free or for a small fee.
